How Using a Multi-Carrier Shipping System Helps Businesses Go Green

FORT MYERS, FL — December 28, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. released methods to save energy in the shipping department with third party multiple carrier shipping systems. The Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping efficiency features bring bonuses of saving energy and money while shipping packages. CPS can be a part of a company’s “Go Green” New Year’s resolution.

“Ground shipping services are better for the environment. Airplanes use a lot more fuel per pound-shipped than trucks. Of course, if your package needs to be there overnight, you don’t have much of a choice. But with the carriers guaranteeing delivery within one or two days in a large radius around most origins, ground service can take the place of one and two day services in many cases,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “Someone could look up transit times for packages and make this work with any current system, but if you need to know quickly, multi-carrier shipping software can look it up for you. Using the exclusive CPS Smart RateBots, a shipper user will know in seconds whether or not ground services can take the place of express services,” continued Mr. Sansone. “A business can make these choices ahead of time, then apply a rule to all shipped packages to use ground services if they give equivalent delivery times to one and two day services needed. We have customers who have three or four warehouses spread around the country. Assuming they have supply in stock for all items ordered, they can guarantee two-day delivery to at least 90% of the continental U.S using ground services.”

“Automatically choosing air or express services for two-day delivery is a potential waste of energy. With a little bit of pre-planning, a business can set itself up to make smart choices for every express or air delivery,” said Mr. Sansone. “We hope that as businesses make their New Year’s resolutions they will consider reducing their carbon footprint and their shipping costs with Smart RateBots.”

Harvey Software Releases Latest Update: National Carrier Updates and Product Improvements

FORT MYERS, FL — December 27, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today released the annual National Carrier Updates to its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software. Included in these updates are the latest 2012 rate tables for FedEx, SpeeDee, and UPS as well as several other product improvements and new features. All CPS users will need the updates in order for their license of the software to work correctly. The update is available beginning 11am today, December 27, 2011 and will remain optional for one (1) week. On or after Tuesday, January 2nd, 2012, this update becomes critical and essential for CPS to function properly.

“We’ve been doing the updates for years now, and we’ve found it works out well for our customers to let them complete the update at their own pace. We provide a window so that if there’s priority shipping that needs to take place, the update can be delayed for a few hours or days. The time needed to apply the update is minimal, and businesses will typically be able to ship as usual in just a few minutes,” said Dan Turbeville, COO at Harvey Software. “We would like to emphasize the importance of completing this update this week, since next week the timing will not be so flexible. 2011 rates expire this weekend, and since there are some pretty significant changes to the rates, our CPS users will want to make sure they are in compliance with carrier requirements by completing the update. We know that many of our customers appreciate the rate shopping features within CPS, like the BestWay Calculator, RateBots, and Smart RateBots. The National Carrier Updates ensure the accuracy of those rates and that all rate shopping features continue to save our clients’ money,” concluded Mr. Turbeville.

Multi-Carrier Shipping Software Helps Shipper Make Smart Free Shipping Offers

By taking advantage of reporting features in CPS by Harvey Software, a user can plan free shipping offers to increase sales and increase profits

FORT MYERS, FL — December 21, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today described how its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) can help Internet retailers determine when to offer free shipping for orders. Free shipping is solidified in its place in the online market. With more than 60% of online orders this year placed with free shipping, this trend shows no signs of reversal. Major online players like Amazon have leveraged free shipping for years, and other sites have adapted to this standard. Going forward, it is easy to see an online market where free shipping is more or less required for retailers to stay competitive.

“Free shipping has become the norm in Internet shopping. Customers expect to see it and retailers need to be prepared to offer it,” said Bob Sansone, Director of Sales at Harvey Software. “There are multiple reasons why free shipping increases sales, not least of which is avoiding the ‘sticker shock’ of seeing shipping charges added in at the end of a sale. Customers want to know the full price of items as they shop. Passing along shipping charges near the end of the transaction often means there is no transaction. Even better, free shipping introduces the word ‘free’ into marketing efforts,” continued Mr. Sansone. “Free shipping also places your business in the national market. Your products cost the same for customers in any part of the United States. Without it, you become a regional option with potential customers limited to only those located around you. If you owned a brick and mortar store, you wouldn’t be checking addresses and charging more for those who live further away. So why would you do this in an online store?” asked Mr. Sansone.

Retailers who are interested in making free shipping offers might be intimidated by the perceived difficulties of making such offers. That retailer will want to know shipping costs, averaged by weight and by item, and they will want separate line items for ground, two-day, and overnight services. A large portion of the work can be done automatically with a multi-carrier shipping system, by running reports on the shipping history. By knowing average shipping costs, retailers will know the costs that need to be covered in order to make “free” shipping offers.

“Offering free shipping is a challenge for today’s online sellers. When you study the prices of popular websites that offer free shipping, you will find they work the shipping charges into the cost of the items. Shipping is not ‘free’ to the retailer, they have just figured out a way to average those charges into the cost of the product,” said Mr. Sansone. “This is where multi-carrier shipping software like our CPS can really help. There are reporting features available to provide shipping cost averages for each carrier and service for any time period. Using those shipping cost averages a company can then determine when and how it can make free shipping offers. When customers are not ambushed by surprise shipping charges in their shopping cart, research shows they are far more likely to complete the transaction,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Developer Harvey Software Announces National Carrier Update Schedule

FORT MYERS, FL — December 20, 2012 — Harvey Software, Inc. announced today it will release the National Carrier Update of its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software, which will take effect on January 2, 2012. This newest version of CPS includes shipping features developed throughout 2011, plus updates to the carriers’ rate tables and improvements to existing features. The National Carrier Update will be available for download beginning December 27th at 11:00am EST and is distributed to all existing CPS users at no charge. This update is required for all current CPS users with any version of the CPS. Since CPS is multiple carrier shipping software, the update helps ensure that all CPS users are in compliance with the carriers’ requirements and that the rates reported in CPS are accurate and current.

“CPS requires updates annually because of changes to the carrier rate tables, shipping labels, data upload requirements and new service additions. We also take the opportunity to include new features as well as improvements to existing features while we update carrier related components,” said Terry Kennedy, VP of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “We do want to emphasize the importance of this update to all of our customers. Since a central CPS feature is to shop rates among the carriers, it is essential those rates be current and accurate. We allow a week-long window to accommodate companies’ holiday schedules, and we design the update to be easy to download and install,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.

“Many other shipping software makers charge to update their software. We don’t. The advertised price of CPS includes these updates as part of scheduled maintenance, just as we include Internet and phone support at no extra charge,” said Bob Sansone, Director of Sales at Harvey Software. “We don’t nickel and dime our customers for essential features of the software they purchased. We continue to offer unparalleled services to our customers, including providing the updates on time every year. If anyone has questions regarding this update, we invite them to read more about it in their online CPS support notifications,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Hands-Free Shipping Increases Profits for Companies Shipping with a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

Companies with needs for hands-free shipping software can ship automatically with a feature with a multi-carrier shipping system by Harvey Software.
FORT MYERS, FL — December 15, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc., released information today describing The Automator®, the hands-free shipment processing feature included in its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software. Whether shipping one package at a time or a group of packages, the Automator allows a business to ship without any operator required at the shipping computer. Even though it is a hands-off operation, the CPS Automator continues to select the best shipping method for each package by rate shopping between all of the major U.S. carriers according to what the user wants. A company can rest assured knowing that they are getting the best rates possible for each individual package.

“We first developed with the Automator as a security feature, believe it or not. A client wanted to be able to keep the shipping information from being edited by employees to insure 100% accuracy and security. Originally, this was applied with the computer itself locked in a closet with the employees having access only to the completed shipping labels and packages,” said Bob Sansone, Director of Sales at Harvey Software, Inc. “A great side effect of the method we came up with for that particular customer’s security needs was the ability to ship an entire batch of packages with no person necessary at the shipping computer. We saw the potential for this feature for our other customers, and The Automator became a standard feature of CPS shipping software contained in every CPS license we sell,” continued Mr. Sansone.

“It’s easy to see how this could save lots of time in the shipping department. CPS is quick even when shipping information has to be entered manually, but between ODBC integration and automatic rate shopping made possible with the unique to CPS RateBots® and Smart RateBots® features, it’s possible that a person is necessary at the computer only to press enter several times. We took away those slowdown factors and let the software go at full speed,” explained Mr. Sansone. “Basically, the speed at which a printer is capable of printing becomes the only limitation to how fast the packages can be processed and ready to be picked up by the carriers. We know that many companies are interested in this type of shipping automation. Ultimately, a company can increase their profits with a feature like this by increasing productivity and guaranteeing accuracy,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Bicycle Safety Jerseys for River Ride Event Donated by Shipping Software Maker Harvey Software

3FeetPlease Bicycle Jerseys Help Improve Cyclist Visibility. Harvey Software donated several to a local charity raffle in Fort Myers, FL

FORT MYERS, FL — December 1, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc., a Fort Myers, FL based developer and distributor of multi-carrier shipping software, shared its recent effort promoting bicycle safety around its Southwest Florida home area. Harvey Software donated 3FeetPlease cycling jerseys to the Caloosahatchee River Citizens Association (Riverwatch), which were prizes in a raffle during the Fifteenth Annual River Ride held on November 13th. Winners include Bryan Avery, Peter Olsen, and Dutch Vanderkuypt, all from Cape Coral, FL, and Maureen Granger-Bohl of Fort Myers, FL. The River Ride is a casual ride showcasing the natural beauty of the wildlife and marine habitat of the Caloosahatchee River. Participants completed 15, 30, 40, or 62 mile circuits near the Caloosahatchee River.

“Southwest Florida has a year-round cycling season making bicycle safety important for both cyclists and motorists to understand. Many are not aware that Florida law requires a three foot distance between all automobiles and bicycles on the road, regardless of available cycling facilities like bike lanes or paths. The 3FeetPlease attire helps educate the public about this law with a very visual reminder to motorists who encounter cyclists,” said Bert Hamilton, Harvey Software’s President and CEO. “We respect Riverwatch’s mission to promote the unique natural beauty of our hometown and we thought this donation would help extend the education effort of 3FeetPlease. By working together, we can provide a safe and beautiful biking community not only in Fort Myers but in the entire Southwest Florida region,” stated Mr. Hamilton.

ODBC Data Linking Tool in Multi-Carrier Shipping Software Saves Valuable Employee Time

FORT MYERS, FL — November 30, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today shared one of the most popular ways its multi-carrier shipping software saves valuable employee time by connecting directly to other business systems. Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) multiple carrier shipping software connects to order management, accounting and any other system that uses an ODBC compliant database. CPS both reads customer and package data as well as writes back completed shipping information like tracking numbers and shipping costs. The CPS ODBC connection is not only many times faster but also reduces the chance that errors will occur as can happen with manual package data entry.

“Our ODBC connection tool is one of the strongest features of our multi-carrier shipping software. When it comes to reducing the time spent per package, our ODBC link has a major impact,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “To ship a package, CPS reads shipping data, including the customer’s address , etc. through the ODBC connection. CPS selects the lowest cost shipping method, prints the shipping label then writes back completed shipping information into the order management or accounting program, all using the directly linked ODBC connection,” explained Mr. Sansone. “It’s easy to see how this connection saves time. Shipping employees can get to work on packages as orders are entered, and customer service representatives can see shipping info as soon as packages are shipped. Data visibility improves, and employees don’t have to spend time looking up or entering information that can be transferred automatically. This saved time translates to higher productivity and greater efficiency. Higher efficiency reduces the overall cost of shipping. This means a company can offer flat rate shipping costs or even free shipping offers, which are proven to reducing shopping cart abandonment. The end result is CPS can be essential in creating a more efficient shipping operation that will result in more sales,” stated Mr. Sansone.

Harvey Software Delivers Sustained Support for Bicycle Safety with Community 3FeetPlease Campaign

3FeetPlease Road Sign
FORT MYERS, FL — November 29, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. shared an update of its ongoing community effort to promote motorists’ awareness of bicycles. The developer and distributor of popular multi-carrier shipping software, headquartered in Fort Myers, FL, continues its mission to improve bicycle safety in a state with a year-round biking season. Recently, Harvey Software’s CEO was acknowledged in a meeting of the Board of Lee County (FL) Commissioners for the company’s efforts to purchase and distribute over 500 “3 Feet Please” stickers to be placed on official Lee County government vehicles and LeeTran public buses. The bright yellow stickers visually promote a safe distance between motorists and cyclists. Harvey Software hopes the awareness will reduce future accidents involving bicycles and motor vehicles.

“Southwest Florida is a wonderful place to bike, with ample facilities, great weather, and beautiful scenery. The goal is to improve safety for area cyclists and make the area even more attractive to bikers. We wanted a visual signal to motorists alerting them to increased caution necessary around a bicycle,” said Bert Hamilton, CEO of Harvey Software, headquartered in Fort Myers, FL. “The moment I saw these T-shirts and jerseys I knew that they would send a very hard to miss signal to drivers! The message is clear—a minimum three foot distance between car and bicycle, at all times. With this simple rule of thumb, bicycles and automobiles can share the road safely for the benefit of all,” continued Mr. Hamilton. “By distributing this message to as many as possible, we hope we can reduce the number of accidents in this area and raise awareness between cyclists and drivers. Our county government is taking an active role in supporting this program, far past simply recognizing the effort. Soon, county vehicles and buses in Lee county will have a ‘3FeetPlease’ sticker, reminding motorists of the concept even when cyclists are not around,” explained Mr. Hamilton.

As of this release, over 400 bumper stickers have been distributed and the remainder should be in place by the end of this year. For further information regarding the 3FeetPlease effort and bicycling in Southwest Florida, please visit http://www.swfbicycling.blogspot.com/.

Multiple Carrier Shipping Software Lets Businesses Leverage Carrier Shipping Guarantees

Smart RateBot Can Save Your Business On Expedited Shipping

FORT MYERS, FL — November 29, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. described how shippers can take advantage of carrier shipping guarantees to meet shipping delivery time commitments at the lowest cost. The Smart RateBot® feature Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software reduces shipping expenses by helping companies meet guaranteed delivery times using a carrier’s ground service instead of the more expensive air and express services. For example, the major US package carriers promise delivery within two days to many states using standard ground service. A centrally located shipper enjoys guaranteed delivery within two days to half of the continental US. The CPS Smart RateBot enables shippers who use the more economical ground services to meet guaranteed two day delivery service commitments. By offering the same shipping transit times at a lower cost, shippers who take advantage of this feature can immediately increase their profits.

“Many shipping departments just automatically choose two-day air service when the customer needs their package in two days. Depending on where the package is shipped from, the area where ground service delivers within a guaranteed two days covers quite a large part of the U.S.,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “Let’s look at a company shipping out of downtown Chicago. A quick look at their one carrier’s transit map shows that Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, and all of Long Island are within the two day ground delivery area from Chicago. In fact, 19 complete states and parts of several others have guaranteed ground delivery commitments within two days. There is no reason to be shipping two day air to these places when ground service will do the job,” explained Mr. Sansone. “In our CPS shipping software, the shipper simply creates a Smart RateBot for a two day delivery time, and that Smart RateBot chooses the least expensive ground delivery service for any address within that two-day zone. There’s no need for a shipping employee to look at zone maps,” continued Mr. Sansone. “There are instances where shipping ground can cost half that of air or express services, maybe even less. Why not take advantage of services the carriers guarantee? Of course, you always have the option of using their air or express services if necessary. Changing carrier services with CPS is just a click away,” said Mr. Sansone.

“We work with companies with multiple warehouses across the country. When their products are located in strategic locations, they are able to cover most of the country by ground service with just a few strategic warehouse locations. By making that investment and using a multi-carrier shipping system, those companies are optimally positioned for our Internet economy,” explained Mr. Sansone. “And even with one location, shipping via ground to destinations within guaranteed delivery zones is just smart business. Smart RateBots can make this profitability a reality for a shipper of any size,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Holiday Shipping Made Easier with a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

Holiday Shipping with a Multi-Carrier Shipping System is Cheaper and Easier

FORT MYERS, FL — November 17, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. released reasons that multi-carrier shipping systems can help online merchants with holiday shipping. The Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) reduces workload in the shipping department by offering instant data import/export along with complete rate shopping features. Using the time and money saving features of CPS, an online merchant can get packages out the door faster and reduce shipping costs at the same time.

“Holiday Internet shopping grows every year, and we are already expecting this year to be the biggest yet. With the larger number of orders comes the need for efficient shipping software to handle the increased package volume. By taking advantage of a multi-carrier shipping system, a merchant can move through that volume of packages in a short amount of time,” said Terry Kennedy, VP of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Customer shipping data comes into our CPS shipping software with an ODBC connection with completed shipping information like tracking numbers and shipping cost exported back to the shipper’s business systems. This makes for quick shipping as well as easy record keeping and shipment reconciliation. Plus, with the option of sending the customer a tailored Ship eLERT® shipping notification and tracking email, companies increase the visibility of the package and their online brand,” continued Mr. Kennedy.

“In addition to the considerable time-saving and integration features of our CPS shipping software, our customers are interested in maximizing profits during the holiday season,” explained Mr. Kennedy. “CPS shipping software excels at getting the lowest cost shipping for every package. By taking advantage of features like the BestWay Calculator, CPS RateBots and Smart RateBots, our clients save money every time they ship a package,” continued Mr. Kennedy. “The carriers aggressively compete with one another for your shipping dollars, and a multi-carrier shipping system takes advantage of that competition by enabling a choice between them for each package. Sometimes the difference is only pennies, but often, the difference can be a dollar or even more per package. Add to that the ability to automatically take advantage of guaranteed ground delivery times that can replace two-day or even next day shipping, and your business can reduce its shipping expenses significantly with few changes to the overall process,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Connects to Current Systems for Money and Time Saving Features

CPS Shipping Software connects to current order management and fulfillment systems

FORT MYERS, FL — November 16, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc., today reported additional benefits when integrating its flagship Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) with other software systems. Connecting the popular multi-carrier shipping system to order entry or accounting programs reduces redundant data entry, speeds up the shipping process, and saves money on shipping costs all at the same time. When the connection is complete, CPS reads necessary shipping data from other programs, reduces manual shipping data entry, lessens the workload of a shipping employee and writes back completed shipping info back into the other programs.

“An order management or accounting program may include some type of shipping function,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “But spend just a few days using those functions and a company shipping even moderate volume is going to want something faster. Plus, many of those systems include functions primarily oriented to use only a single carrier. CPS benefits its customers with rate shopping between UPS, FedEx, and the USPS, and with quick, easy-to-use connection tools to other software,” explained Mr. Sansone. “Here is an example. We recently documented connecting CPS to Intuit QuickBooks, which brings our customers a much simplified accounting of the shipping department’s transactions. After a user ships a package with CPS, the tracking number and shipping charges write back immediately into the QuickBooks customer invoice. We know this reduces the potential errors involved in getting data from one program to the other, also saving employee workload with every package shipped,” continued Mr. Sansone. “QuickBooks is one of a large group of CPS compatible systems, and we encourage companies to investigate whether their current system can also connect,” said Mr. Sansone.

“We know that managers seek out multi-carrier shipping systems to save money on their shipping costs,” stated Mr. Sansone. “When they discover how much time they save by connecting CPS to their other systems, it’s a great ‘fringe’ benefit. CPS will pay for itself with shipping cost savings with only a moderate volume of shipping each month. The time employees save is on top of that. We are confident that CPS will reduce the workload in the shipping department, which will reduce shipping labor costs as well as allow employees to focus on other tasks. CPS shipping software makes employees more productive and companies more profitable,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Shaves Time Spent on Every Package

CPS Shipping Software Saves Time On Shipping With RateBots
FORT MYERS, FL — November 3, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software publicized the advantages of using specific features in its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) multi-carrier shipping system that are designed to save time on shipping. “Best rate” and “best carrier” lookups are commonly done in the shipping process and accurately making those “best” choices can affect the overall cost of shipping significantly. But to make this effective, a company needs these “best” choices made both quickly as well as accurately. The CPS RateBot® feature automatically makes this “best” choice with the twist that it is fully controlled by the shipper to pick the best service from all available shipping choices. Once set up, a RateBot immediately chooses the best-priced service for every package without any user input needed. Setting up RateBots for each of the company’s shipping choices speeds up the shipping process and saves money at the same time.

“CPS RateBots are a terrific time saver in the shipping department,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “I can’t imagine how a shipping department would have the time to find the best choice for every package if they were using the carrier provided shipping systems. Just checking the shipping rates on two or more systems would be incredibly time consuming. When you graduate to a multi-carrier shipping system like our CPS shipping software, you enjoy immediate access to the shipping rates of each carrier. Next, set up the RateBots you need - maybe one for the best ground delivery or maybe a RateBot for the best next day delivery, for example. Now that important ‘best carrier’ choice happens at lightning speed,” explained Mr. Sansone.

“Here’s another time saving aspect of CPS. For companies shipping directly to consumers, the carriers’ residential delivery surcharges can make a big cost difference, so it’s critical to determine the residential or commercial address status for each package since that can really impact rate shopping. The CPS Address Verification Module determines this status for every package shipped as it verifies the address. To do this check manually, just locating this important information could take a significant amount of time. Even if it only took an extra minute per package to check the address status and then compare rates, that time would really add up when it’s multiplied by 50, 100 or maybe many more packages each day,” stated Mr. Sansone. “When you are looking for speed in your shipping department, CPS, coupled with the unique RateBot feature, can save hours every day. The time savings translate into money savings and CPS users benefit from both,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

QuickBooks ProAdvisors Can Help Their Clients Connect to a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

FORT MYERS, FL — October 26, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. announced information available to QuickBooks® ProAdvisors about a new connection that opens up advanced multi-carrier shipping capabilities for QuickBooks Pro users. This new integration allows Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™), and Intuit’s QuickBooks Pro to work together seamlessly, giving QuickBooks Pro users the possibilities of substantial savings in their shipping costs. The ProAdvisors are invited to learn more about this integration, including the opportunity to attend free webinars that present information explaining it and how to maximize its effectiveness for mutual clients. If QuickBooks ProAdvisors think they would be able to assist customers in setting up their QuickBooks Company to integrate with CPS (with training provided for the CPS side) and would like to be included in the Harvey Software ProAdvisor Referral Directory, they can reach out with the links below.

“If a ProAdvisor’s practice serves clients who ship packages with the three major U.S. carriers, those clients can start saving money on their shipping immediately by taking advantage of the rate shopping features available in CPS. Connecting a client’s CPS shipping software to QuickBooks also saves them time processing each shipment and ensures accurate shipping data goes back into QuickBooks’ files,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “On the shipment side, customer data is read automatically from QuickBooks into the CPS shipping software, so there is no room for human error caused by manually entering customer data. Plus, the instant data transfer makes getting the shipment finalized and out the door even faster. Any shipping data needed for the accounting department, such as tracking numbers, shipping charges, and much more can be written back automatically to QuickBooks as soon as a shipment is processed. This means accurate final invoices are available in minutes,” explained Mr. Sansone. “In the fast-paced world of Internet orders, a business needs this information available as soon as they complete their order. This connection allows the shipper to shop the best rates available for a package, finalize that shipment, and have the completed info back to QuickBooks in seconds,” said Mr. Sansone.

“This ODBC connection between QuickBooks and CPS has only recently become available and we encourage QuickBooks ProAdvisors to become familiar with this feature to help better serve their clients,” said Mr. Sansone. “We invite any interested ProAdvisors to contact us about this integration. The goal is to develop long term relationships with interested ProAdvisors. Pro Advisors who support the QuickBooks side of this integration will be a valuable resource to QuickBooks users. As we see more clients’ systems containing both CPS and QuickBooks, we envision a community of QuickBooks ProAdvisors that we will refer customers to that need that extra personal touch to help get them up and running,” explained Mr. Sansone. “By working together to help our clients save money and time, Harvey Software and QuickBooks ProAdvisors will make our clients’ businesses run more efficiently and with fewer errors,” concluded Mr. Sansone. Those interested in learning about CPS can visit www.HarveySoft.com or in signing up to be included in the Harvey Software ProAdvisor Referral Directory, can contact Harvey Software at http://www.HarveySoft.com/mailform.htm.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Boosts Online Brand Recognition with Ship Notification Emails

SHIP eLERT
FORT MYERS, FL — October 25, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today reminded Internet retailers about the importance of quickly communicating tracking numbers and shipping information to their customers via email. Some shipping systems, such as those provided ‘free’ by carriers, offer the ability to have an email sent by the carrier on behalf of the shipper. These email shipment notifications are easily identified as coming from the carrier but not as easily recognized as coming from the merchant. Shipment confirmation emails give retailers the opportunity to connect with their customers to provide the information customers want about their order status and, most importantly, that the order is on the way to them.

“The SHIP eLERT® feature of our Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) multi-carrier shipping system sends an email shipment notification directly from the shipper’s own email address to the customer no matter which carrier is used. The customer immediately sees that the SHIP eLERT is from the company they ordered from, reinforcing the retailer’s brand with the customer,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “Receipts and purchase confirmations are important, but providing a link so customers know their packages are on the way with the ability to track the up-to-date delivery status of their packages may be the most important single piece of information sent to customers. Customers love to open the tracking email to check the status of their packages and find out when they will receive their order,” continued Mr. Sansone. “If the tracking email comes from a carrier’s email address instead, the customer does not immediately connect with the retailer at this important part of today’s online transaction. Internet retailers need to build and reinforce their online brands. Sending an email that a customer is highly likely to open is a great way to do so,” said Mr. Sansone.

“We know of people who recall a company for later purchases by finding the tracking email in their inbox and revisiting the site for shopping—even months or years later,” said Mr. Sansone “A company’s tracking email can become a positive way to recall past purchases when that customer is ready for more shopping. With our SHIP eLERT tracking email, a retailer can specify the subject line for the email, so that important keywords for the company’s brand can help a customer find its website in their email records,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Address Verification in a Multi-Carrier Shipping System Helps Save Money and Improve Service

Harvey Software Address Verification
FORT MYERS, FL — October 20, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. shared information about how using address verification and automated correction in their CPS™ multi-carrier shipping software can help a company reduce additional charges from the major carriers as well as increase efficiency in the shipping department. Address errors cost businesses in undeliverable packages, delayed deliveries, address correction fees and annoyed customers. Using address verification guards against address problems at that critical time when a package is being shipped. The best address verification systems check not only for bad addresses but also correct an address, standardize the address format for more efficient package delivery, and check for the commercial or residential status of an address. In addition to savings and convenience, correct addresses assist in on-time delivery, resulting in satisfied customers who are more likely to return for future purchases.

“Address mistakes create dissatisfied customers and increase shipping costs. We can help shippers reduce or eliminate those problems. Our Address Verification Module (AVM) for our Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) multi-carrier shipping software works for shipping with UPS®, FedEx® and USPS®, including shippers using Internet postage,” said Bob Sansone, Director of Sales at Harvey Software. “Address correction fees by themselves can cost a lot of money. One carrier charges $10 per box for ground service corrections, and the cap for express service corrections can be as high as $77 for a multi-piece shipment! A few mistakes a month add up fast,” explained Mr. Sansone. “These errors can be prevented by a company’s shipping software. If the AVM makes just a couple of corrections per month, it pays for itself with the money saved,” explained Mr. Sansone.

“That’s just the start. The commercial or residential address status is critical when you choose between the carriers due to the carriers’ residential delivery surcharges. CPS reports precise shipping rates and can even be configured to select the best service automatically for every package. This prevents another surprise charge on the carrier invoice, that of shipping to an address which you thought was commercial but is really residential,” continued Mr. Sansone. “Nothing frustrates a customer more than an order that is not delivered when expected. Add to this the increased cost from the carriers for address correction and residential delivery surcharges, and the conclusion is obvious—more expensive shipping costs and dissatisfied customers,” stated Mr. Sansone. “When a retailer delivers their products to the right place at the right time, their customers are more likely to return to purchase again. With AVM from Harvey Software, retailers know their products always go to the intended address and increase their customers’ satisfaction,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Now Communicates Instantly with QuickBooks, Saving a Business Time

FORT MYERS, FL — October 19, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today shared a competitive advantage created by the recently released integration between its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software and Intuit’s QuickBooks® accounting software. This integration can make a company more competitive by greatly reducing the workload spent sharing data between the order management, accounting, and shipping departments. By integrating the most popular small business accounting software with the most versatile multi-carrier shipping system, companies can save significant amounts of time otherwise spent entering data, checking errors, and fulfilling orders in general.

“Here is an example of the time savings for a company that is using both QuickBooks and CPS,” said Terry Kennedy, Vice President of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Prior to the integration, the company ships approximately 50 packages per day, and they spend about five minutes creating an invoice for each order. After the invoice is created, their shipping employee currently spends three minutes per order re-entering that information into their carrier provided shipping software. We showed them they are spending two and a half hours each day in redundant data entry. Using QuickBooks with CPS integration, this information only needs to be entered once per order,” said Mr. Kennedy. “We made some projections for them. As their business grows to 200 packages per day, this integration will save them the equivalent of a full employee workday, every day. There’s also significantly less chance for errors with only one person responsible for entering data. What’s more, the time saved between shipping and accounting is all in addition to the time and money savings they enjoy when using CPS. The QuickBooks to CPS integration really allows both programs to go to a whole new level. What could you do with an extra employee every day?” asked Mr. Kennedy.

“There is another aspect of these time savings that many people don’t think about—they happen at the right part of the day. Many companies that ship large numbers of packages don’t even start shipping until after noon. So there’s a narrow window of opportunity before the carriers’ trucks arrive,” explained Mr. Kennedy. “This integration saves your company time when it is most valuable. We are acutely aware of our customer’s daily shipping deadlines. The carriers run on a tight timetable and so does anyone who ships with them. We all understand that packages shipped the same day they are ordered satisfy the customers’ expectation of quick service. Successfully doing this every day for every customer translates to repeat customers and ultimately, growth for your business. We’re excited about what this new integration offers to our clients and look forward to implementing this integration with any business that it can help,” Mr. Kennedy concluded.

Shipping and Accounting Errors Reduced by Connecting QuickBooks to a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

Shipping and Accounting Errors Reduced by Connecting QuickBooks to a Multi-Carrier Shipping System
FORT MYERS, FL — October 13, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc., today announced that its flagship multi-carrier shipping system, the Computerized Parcel System (CPS™), now connects to Intuit’s QuickBooks accounting software. A modestly priced new program available from QODBC.com allows CPS to import shipping data from QuickBooks as well as export shipping costs, tracking numbers, and other necessary shipping information back into the popular accounting program. The instant electronic data connection allows for greater transparency between the shipping and accounting departments and greatly reduces the possibility of human error.

“This latest version of the QODBC driver for QuickBooks 2012 opens up a lot of possibilities for shippers who need to integrate their shipping system with their QuickBooks,” said Terry Kennedy, Vice President of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Previously, using QuickBooks with CPS required manual entries for each customer and each order. This created a delay between entering an order into QuickBooks and making the shipping entry into CPS. Now, data from QuickBooks imports automatically into CPS using just the customer reference number, eliminating a significant step from the shipping process,” explained Mr. Kennedy. “As soon as a package is shipped, CPS can write the shipping cost and package tracking information back to QuickBooks. This means that necessary shipping information is shown directly on the QuickBooks invoice, increasing invoicing visibility. Customers appreciate the invoice with the complete shipping and tracking information,” continued Mr. Kennedy.

“This integration is an important step QuickBooks users can take to speed-up order entry, shipping, and accounting. By decreasing the user input necessary between systems, a business reduces shipping and accounting errors,” said Mr. Kennedy. “After investigating this new integration capability, we are very pleased to offer our customers a streamlined connection between QuickBooks and CPS.  Making this available to our customers helps them almost as much as switching to a multi-carrier shipping system from a single carrier solution. We provide complete, detailed directions to set this connection up,” stated Mr. Kennedy. “We encourage both current customers as well as those thinking about employing a multi-carrier shipping system to investigate how much this connection will streamline their shipping and accounting processes,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.

New Whitepaper Details Time and Money Savings When Using a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

Ten Reasons to Use a Multi-Carrier Shipping System
FORT MYERS, FL — October 6, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. recently released its whitepaper sharing the advantages of using a multiple carrier shipping solution compared to a single carrier system. The whitepaper, “Ten Reasons to Use a Multi-Carrier Shipping System” by Dan Turbeville, COO of Harvey Software, Inc., is now available for free download at the Harvey Software website. With this information now available to the public, retailers and shippers will have a better understanding of why it makes good business sense to utilize a third party shipping system such as Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software for their parcel shipping needs.

“We wanted to put together a comprehensive paper about the benefits our CPS shipping software provides to small package shippers,” said Mr. Turbeville. “This whitepaper discusses topics related directly to the shipping department such as consumer choice in shipping methods and simplifying the shipment process as well as higher level business topics such as assistance in carrier rate negotiations and providing accurate financial data,” explained Mr. Turbeville. “Retailers who are interested in improving their shipping process in order to reduce costs and save time can now find detailed information on increased shipping productivity in this comprehensive guide. When productivity increases in the shipping department, a retailer’s competitive edge improves and company profits increase. We hope that Internet retailers will actively pursue this information in order to improve their business,” concluded Mr. Turbeville.

The whitepaper includes topics such as shipment visibility, system interfacing, and abandoned shopping carts. Readers are shown how multiple carrier shipping systems improve branding and tracking with shipment emails coming from the shipper. They will learn of the networking simplicity offered in a multi-carrier solution and also how to reduce shopping cart abandonment caused by surprise shipping charges. Those interested in downloading the new whitepaper can find it at http://www.harveysoft.com/whitepapers/.

“Much of what our new whitepaper discusses has been discovered from feedback from our current customers. They use the features of our multi-carrier shipping system to their full advantage and they tell us when they discover a new way for CPS shipping software to save their company money and time,” said Terry Kennedy, Vice President of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Our goal is to provide the most versatile shipping system on the market. We are confident that CPS is the shipping solution that retailers want and need. We encourage all retailers to download our new whitepaper and learn about the advantages provided by our multi-carrier CPS shipping software,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.

Harvey Software Gives Three Months of CPS Service Free for a Limited Time

Harvey Software Gives Three Months of CPS Service Free for a Limited Time
FORT MYERS, FL — September 21, 2011 — Today Harvey Software, Inc. announced unprecedented savings available for its popular Computerized Parcel Shipping (CPS™) shipping software service. New CPS Annual Plan customers receive three (3) additional months service free, providing CPS service for a total of fifteen (15) months through the end of 2012.  Plus, the popular Address Verification Module (AVM™) is also included at no additional charge. When these savings are combined, new customers will save more than $800.

“We know that retailers and shippers alike are gearing up for the holiday season. We’ve been advising companies to get a head start by setting up the proper shipping system before the orders start coming in. By providing three additional months of our CPS shipping software service for free, we are letting companies discover just how much impact the rate shopping features of CPS shipping software can have on their shipping expenses,” said Terry Kennedy, VP of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “We also find that many customers come back to us with the need to validate shipment addresses. We are providing the Address Verification Module service for free to help a business understand how much of its shipping costs can be eliminated,” continued Mr. Kennedy. “Shippers who know the value of multi-carrier shipping software already understand the savings available with the carrier rate shopping features, carrier mode optimization and address correction. This limited-time offer puts those savings straight to a company’s bottom line and with the opportunity to get the remainder of the year for free, it’s a bonus gift that has come early this year,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.

CPS shipping software already pays for its monthly cost with savings from its rate shopping features. Those interested in seeing this can use the Estimated Savings Calculator found on Harvey Software’s Home Page. This free service promotion only increases the available savings, but this limited time offer will expire at the end of September. Companies interested can find more information at the Harvey Software website, http://www.HarveySoft.com/.

Dydacomp and Harvey Software Strengthen Partnership with New Feature in M.O.M. Version 8

FORT MYERS, FL & TOTOWA, NJ — September 20, 2011 — Dydacomp and Harvey Software, Inc. today announced they have strengthened their strategic partnership by including a powerful shipping feature in the latest release of Multichannel Order manager (M.O.M.) at no additional charge. M.O.M. Version 8 integrates the Universal Shipping Interface (USI) to connect clients to Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software, speeding up the workflow in both fulfillment and shipping. Customers of both companies will benefit by having this interface available.

“Harvey Software has worked with Dydacomp for many years with the shared mission of saving our customers money and time. Many of our customers utilize M.O.M. for their order management and we are very pleased to know that the CPS shipping software interface can be accessed now for no additional fee,” said Dan Turbeville, Harvey Software’s Chief Operating Officer. “As Dydacomp is one of our longstanding business partners, we are excited that this partnership now brings additional benefits to users of both programs. We continue to support Dydacomp’s order management solution as we work to make our CPS shipping software save our customers’ time and money on their shipping costs,” concluded Mr. Turbeville.

Through the USI, CPS is supplied with all necessary shipping information. Once the CPS user selects their preferred shipping method, the shipping service information and tracking number write back to M.O.M. The shipping department receives quick and accurate shipping data from the order management application and the customer service department receives shipping information and tracking number back instantly. The connection between the M.O.M. and CPS helps ensure quick fulfillment and accurate record-keeping.

“Dydacomp strives to provide our clients with the most robust order management tools possible to thrive in today’s marketplace. One area that they can achieve significant cost savings is in shipping, and we recognized that many of our clients purchase Harvey Software’s CPS shipping software to accomplish this. We felt it was important to support the connection between the two solutions, which is why we made the USI feature standard in M.O.M. V8. We know this will make it easier for retailers to use both programs to complete their orders quickly and save money,” said Rob Coon, Senior Vice President at Dydacomp.
