QuickBooks ProAdvisors Can Help Their Clients Connect to a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

FORT MYERS, FL — October 26, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. announced information available to QuickBooks® ProAdvisors about a new connection that opens up advanced multi-carrier shipping capabilities for QuickBooks Pro users. This new integration allows Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™), and Intuit’s QuickBooks Pro to work together seamlessly, giving QuickBooks Pro users the possibilities of substantial savings in their shipping costs. The ProAdvisors are invited to learn more about this integration, including the opportunity to attend free webinars that present information explaining it and how to maximize its effectiveness for mutual clients. If QuickBooks ProAdvisors think they would be able to assist customers in setting up their QuickBooks Company to integrate with CPS (with training provided for the CPS side) and would like to be included in the Harvey Software ProAdvisor Referral Directory, they can reach out with the links below.

“If a ProAdvisor’s practice serves clients who ship packages with the three major U.S. carriers, those clients can start saving money on their shipping immediately by taking advantage of the rate shopping features available in CPS. Connecting a client’s CPS shipping software to QuickBooks also saves them time processing each shipment and ensures accurate shipping data goes back into QuickBooks’ files,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “On the shipment side, customer data is read automatically from QuickBooks into the CPS shipping software, so there is no room for human error caused by manually entering customer data. Plus, the instant data transfer makes getting the shipment finalized and out the door even faster. Any shipping data needed for the accounting department, such as tracking numbers, shipping charges, and much more can be written back automatically to QuickBooks as soon as a shipment is processed. This means accurate final invoices are available in minutes,” explained Mr. Sansone. “In the fast-paced world of Internet orders, a business needs this information available as soon as they complete their order. This connection allows the shipper to shop the best rates available for a package, finalize that shipment, and have the completed info back to QuickBooks in seconds,” said Mr. Sansone.

“This ODBC connection between QuickBooks and CPS has only recently become available and we encourage QuickBooks ProAdvisors to become familiar with this feature to help better serve their clients,” said Mr. Sansone. “We invite any interested ProAdvisors to contact us about this integration. The goal is to develop long term relationships with interested ProAdvisors. Pro Advisors who support the QuickBooks side of this integration will be a valuable resource to QuickBooks users. As we see more clients’ systems containing both CPS and QuickBooks, we envision a community of QuickBooks ProAdvisors that we will refer customers to that need that extra personal touch to help get them up and running,” explained Mr. Sansone. “By working together to help our clients save money and time, Harvey Software and QuickBooks ProAdvisors will make our clients’ businesses run more efficiently and with fewer errors,” concluded Mr. Sansone. Those interested in learning about CPS can visit www.HarveySoft.com or in signing up to be included in the Harvey Software ProAdvisor Referral Directory, can contact Harvey Software at http://www.HarveySoft.com/mailform.htm.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Boosts Online Brand Recognition with Ship Notification Emails

SHIP eLERT
FORT MYERS, FL — October 25, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today reminded Internet retailers about the importance of quickly communicating tracking numbers and shipping information to their customers via email. Some shipping systems, such as those provided ‘free’ by carriers, offer the ability to have an email sent by the carrier on behalf of the shipper. These email shipment notifications are easily identified as coming from the carrier but not as easily recognized as coming from the merchant. Shipment confirmation emails give retailers the opportunity to connect with their customers to provide the information customers want about their order status and, most importantly, that the order is on the way to them.

“The SHIP eLERT® feature of our Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) multi-carrier shipping system sends an email shipment notification directly from the shipper’s own email address to the customer no matter which carrier is used. The customer immediately sees that the SHIP eLERT is from the company they ordered from, reinforcing the retailer’s brand with the customer,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “Receipts and purchase confirmations are important, but providing a link so customers know their packages are on the way with the ability to track the up-to-date delivery status of their packages may be the most important single piece of information sent to customers. Customers love to open the tracking email to check the status of their packages and find out when they will receive their order,” continued Mr. Sansone. “If the tracking email comes from a carrier’s email address instead, the customer does not immediately connect with the retailer at this important part of today’s online transaction. Internet retailers need to build and reinforce their online brands. Sending an email that a customer is highly likely to open is a great way to do so,” said Mr. Sansone.

“We know of people who recall a company for later purchases by finding the tracking email in their inbox and revisiting the site for shopping—even months or years later,” said Mr. Sansone “A company’s tracking email can become a positive way to recall past purchases when that customer is ready for more shopping. With our SHIP eLERT tracking email, a retailer can specify the subject line for the email, so that important keywords for the company’s brand can help a customer find its website in their email records,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Address Verification in a Multi-Carrier Shipping System Helps Save Money and Improve Service

Harvey Software Address Verification
FORT MYERS, FL — October 20, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc. shared information about how using address verification and automated correction in their CPS™ multi-carrier shipping software can help a company reduce additional charges from the major carriers as well as increase efficiency in the shipping department. Address errors cost businesses in undeliverable packages, delayed deliveries, address correction fees and annoyed customers. Using address verification guards against address problems at that critical time when a package is being shipped. The best address verification systems check not only for bad addresses but also correct an address, standardize the address format for more efficient package delivery, and check for the commercial or residential status of an address. In addition to savings and convenience, correct addresses assist in on-time delivery, resulting in satisfied customers who are more likely to return for future purchases.

“Address mistakes create dissatisfied customers and increase shipping costs. We can help shippers reduce or eliminate those problems. Our Address Verification Module (AVM) for our Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) multi-carrier shipping software works for shipping with UPS®, FedEx® and USPS®, including shippers using Internet postage,” said Bob Sansone, Director of Sales at Harvey Software. “Address correction fees by themselves can cost a lot of money. One carrier charges $10 per box for ground service corrections, and the cap for express service corrections can be as high as $77 for a multi-piece shipment! A few mistakes a month add up fast,” explained Mr. Sansone. “These errors can be prevented by a company’s shipping software. If the AVM makes just a couple of corrections per month, it pays for itself with the money saved,” explained Mr. Sansone.

“That’s just the start. The commercial or residential address status is critical when you choose between the carriers due to the carriers’ residential delivery surcharges. CPS reports precise shipping rates and can even be configured to select the best service automatically for every package. This prevents another surprise charge on the carrier invoice, that of shipping to an address which you thought was commercial but is really residential,” continued Mr. Sansone. “Nothing frustrates a customer more than an order that is not delivered when expected. Add to this the increased cost from the carriers for address correction and residential delivery surcharges, and the conclusion is obvious—more expensive shipping costs and dissatisfied customers,” stated Mr. Sansone. “When a retailer delivers their products to the right place at the right time, their customers are more likely to return to purchase again. With AVM from Harvey Software, retailers know their products always go to the intended address and increase their customers’ satisfaction,” concluded Mr. Sansone.

Multi-Carrier Shipping System Now Communicates Instantly with QuickBooks, Saving a Business Time

FORT MYERS, FL — October 19, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. today shared a competitive advantage created by the recently released integration between its Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software and Intuit’s QuickBooks® accounting software. This integration can make a company more competitive by greatly reducing the workload spent sharing data between the order management, accounting, and shipping departments. By integrating the most popular small business accounting software with the most versatile multi-carrier shipping system, companies can save significant amounts of time otherwise spent entering data, checking errors, and fulfilling orders in general.

“Here is an example of the time savings for a company that is using both QuickBooks and CPS,” said Terry Kennedy, Vice President of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Prior to the integration, the company ships approximately 50 packages per day, and they spend about five minutes creating an invoice for each order. After the invoice is created, their shipping employee currently spends three minutes per order re-entering that information into their carrier provided shipping software. We showed them they are spending two and a half hours each day in redundant data entry. Using QuickBooks with CPS integration, this information only needs to be entered once per order,” said Mr. Kennedy. “We made some projections for them. As their business grows to 200 packages per day, this integration will save them the equivalent of a full employee workday, every day. There’s also significantly less chance for errors with only one person responsible for entering data. What’s more, the time saved between shipping and accounting is all in addition to the time and money savings they enjoy when using CPS. The QuickBooks to CPS integration really allows both programs to go to a whole new level. What could you do with an extra employee every day?” asked Mr. Kennedy.

“There is another aspect of these time savings that many people don’t think about—they happen at the right part of the day. Many companies that ship large numbers of packages don’t even start shipping until after noon. So there’s a narrow window of opportunity before the carriers’ trucks arrive,” explained Mr. Kennedy. “This integration saves your company time when it is most valuable. We are acutely aware of our customer’s daily shipping deadlines. The carriers run on a tight timetable and so does anyone who ships with them. We all understand that packages shipped the same day they are ordered satisfy the customers’ expectation of quick service. Successfully doing this every day for every customer translates to repeat customers and ultimately, growth for your business. We’re excited about what this new integration offers to our clients and look forward to implementing this integration with any business that it can help,” Mr. Kennedy concluded.

Shipping and Accounting Errors Reduced by Connecting QuickBooks to a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

Shipping and Accounting Errors Reduced by Connecting QuickBooks to a Multi-Carrier Shipping System
FORT MYERS, FL — October 13, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc., today announced that its flagship multi-carrier shipping system, the Computerized Parcel System (CPS™), now connects to Intuit’s QuickBooks accounting software. A modestly priced new program available from QODBC.com allows CPS to import shipping data from QuickBooks as well as export shipping costs, tracking numbers, and other necessary shipping information back into the popular accounting program. The instant electronic data connection allows for greater transparency between the shipping and accounting departments and greatly reduces the possibility of human error.

“This latest version of the QODBC driver for QuickBooks 2012 opens up a lot of possibilities for shippers who need to integrate their shipping system with their QuickBooks,” said Terry Kennedy, Vice President of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Previously, using QuickBooks with CPS required manual entries for each customer and each order. This created a delay between entering an order into QuickBooks and making the shipping entry into CPS. Now, data from QuickBooks imports automatically into CPS using just the customer reference number, eliminating a significant step from the shipping process,” explained Mr. Kennedy. “As soon as a package is shipped, CPS can write the shipping cost and package tracking information back to QuickBooks. This means that necessary shipping information is shown directly on the QuickBooks invoice, increasing invoicing visibility. Customers appreciate the invoice with the complete shipping and tracking information,” continued Mr. Kennedy.

“This integration is an important step QuickBooks users can take to speed-up order entry, shipping, and accounting. By decreasing the user input necessary between systems, a business reduces shipping and accounting errors,” said Mr. Kennedy. “After investigating this new integration capability, we are very pleased to offer our customers a streamlined connection between QuickBooks and CPS.  Making this available to our customers helps them almost as much as switching to a multi-carrier shipping system from a single carrier solution. We provide complete, detailed directions to set this connection up,” stated Mr. Kennedy. “We encourage both current customers as well as those thinking about employing a multi-carrier shipping system to investigate how much this connection will streamline their shipping and accounting processes,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.

New Whitepaper Details Time and Money Savings When Using a Multi-Carrier Shipping System

Ten Reasons to Use a Multi-Carrier Shipping System
FORT MYERS, FL — October 6, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc. recently released its whitepaper sharing the advantages of using a multiple carrier shipping solution compared to a single carrier system. The whitepaper, “Ten Reasons to Use a Multi-Carrier Shipping System” by Dan Turbeville, COO of Harvey Software, Inc., is now available for free download at the Harvey Software website. With this information now available to the public, retailers and shippers will have a better understanding of why it makes good business sense to utilize a third party shipping system such as Harvey Software’s Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) shipping software for their parcel shipping needs.

“We wanted to put together a comprehensive paper about the benefits our CPS shipping software provides to small package shippers,” said Mr. Turbeville. “This whitepaper discusses topics related directly to the shipping department such as consumer choice in shipping methods and simplifying the shipment process as well as higher level business topics such as assistance in carrier rate negotiations and providing accurate financial data,” explained Mr. Turbeville. “Retailers who are interested in improving their shipping process in order to reduce costs and save time can now find detailed information on increased shipping productivity in this comprehensive guide. When productivity increases in the shipping department, a retailer’s competitive edge improves and company profits increase. We hope that Internet retailers will actively pursue this information in order to improve their business,” concluded Mr. Turbeville.

The whitepaper includes topics such as shipment visibility, system interfacing, and abandoned shopping carts. Readers are shown how multiple carrier shipping systems improve branding and tracking with shipment emails coming from the shipper. They will learn of the networking simplicity offered in a multi-carrier solution and also how to reduce shopping cart abandonment caused by surprise shipping charges. Those interested in downloading the new whitepaper can find it at http://www.harveysoft.com/whitepapers/.

“Much of what our new whitepaper discusses has been discovered from feedback from our current customers. They use the features of our multi-carrier shipping system to their full advantage and they tell us when they discover a new way for CPS shipping software to save their company money and time,” said Terry Kennedy, Vice President of Alliance Marketing at Harvey Software. “Our goal is to provide the most versatile shipping system on the market. We are confident that CPS is the shipping solution that retailers want and need. We encourage all retailers to download our new whitepaper and learn about the advantages provided by our multi-carrier CPS shipping software,” concluded Mr. Kennedy.
