Multi-Carrier Shipping System Connects to Current Systems for Money and Time Saving Features

CPS Shipping Software connects to current order management and fulfillment systems

FORT MYERS, FL — November 16, 2011 — Harvey Software, Inc., today reported additional benefits when integrating its flagship Computerized Parcel System (CPS™) with other software systems. Connecting the popular multi-carrier shipping system to order entry or accounting programs reduces redundant data entry, speeds up the shipping process, and saves money on shipping costs all at the same time. When the connection is complete, CPS reads necessary shipping data from other programs, reduces manual shipping data entry, lessens the workload of a shipping employee and writes back completed shipping info back into the other programs.

“An order management or accounting program may include some type of shipping function,” said Bob Sansone, Harvey Software’s Director of Sales. “But spend just a few days using those functions and a company shipping even moderate volume is going to want something faster. Plus, many of those systems include functions primarily oriented to use only a single carrier. CPS benefits its customers with rate shopping between UPS, FedEx, and the USPS, and with quick, easy-to-use connection tools to other software,” explained Mr. Sansone. “Here is an example. We recently documented connecting CPS to Intuit QuickBooks, which brings our customers a much simplified accounting of the shipping department’s transactions. After a user ships a package with CPS, the tracking number and shipping charges write back immediately into the QuickBooks customer invoice. We know this reduces the potential errors involved in getting data from one program to the other, also saving employee workload with every package shipped,” continued Mr. Sansone. “QuickBooks is one of a large group of CPS compatible systems, and we encourage companies to investigate whether their current system can also connect,” said Mr. Sansone.

“We know that managers seek out multi-carrier shipping systems to save money on their shipping costs,” stated Mr. Sansone. “When they discover how much time they save by connecting CPS to their other systems, it’s a great ‘fringe’ benefit. CPS will pay for itself with shipping cost savings with only a moderate volume of shipping each month. The time employees save is on top of that. We are confident that CPS will reduce the workload in the shipping department, which will reduce shipping labor costs as well as allow employees to focus on other tasks. CPS shipping software makes employees more productive and companies more profitable,” concluded Mr. Sansone.
