FORT MYERS, FL — December 1, 2011 — Today, Harvey Software, Inc., a Fort Myers, FL based developer and distributor of multi-carrier shipping software, shared its recent effort promoting bicycle safety around its Southwest Florida home area. Harvey Software donated 3FeetPlease cycling jerseys to the Caloosahatchee River Citizens Association (Riverwatch), which were prizes in a raffle during the Fifteenth Annual River Ride held on November 13th. Winners include Bryan Avery, Peter Olsen, and Dutch Vanderkuypt, all from Cape Coral, FL, and Maureen Granger-Bohl of Fort Myers, FL. The River Ride is a casual ride showcasing the natural beauty of the wildlife and marine habitat of the Caloosahatchee River. Participants completed 15, 30, 40, or 62 mile circuits near the Caloosahatchee River.
“Southwest Florida has a year-round cycling season making bicycle safety important for both cyclists and motorists to understand. Many are not aware that Florida law requires a three foot distance between all automobiles and bicycles on the road, regardless of available cycling facilities like bike lanes or paths. The 3FeetPlease attire helps educate the public about this law with a very visual reminder to motorists who encounter cyclists,” said Bert Hamilton, Harvey Software’s President and CEO. “We respect Riverwatch’s mission to promote the unique natural beauty of our hometown and we thought this donation would help extend the education effort of 3FeetPlease.
